Dear Clara Barton Families and Bordentown Community,
Welcome to Clara Barton School, where every child is known, valued, and inspired to learn. As a school community serving our second and third grade students, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where curiosity is encouraged, kindness is celebrated, and every student is challenged to reach their full potential. Our dedicated staff partners with families to foster academic excellence, character development, and a lifelong love of learning. Whether you are a current family, a prospective parent, or a community member, I invite you to explore our website and discover the many opportunities that make Clara Barton School such a special place. Together, we are building confident learners, compassionate citizens, and a community where every child is a star!
My life as an educator began as a teacher at Clara Barton School, where I spent the first 17 years of my journey. I have worked beside many of Bordentown’s great leaders, was an involved member of the devoted staff, and have always felt a strong connection to the Bordentown Community. I love this town with all of my heart!
The 2026-27 school year marks my 30th year in education. My most recent experience was as the Superintendent/ Principal of Eagleswood Township Elementary School District. Prior to my time in Eagleswood, I was the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Riverside Township schools, PK-12. I have also served as an elementary principal in Lumberton and North Hanover school districts. The majority of my educational experience, was spent in Bordentown schools teaching at Clara Barton School. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to return “home” last year.
It is my philosophy that the culture of a school and its collective ability to welcome and engage learners, is rooted in the mutual trust we share for each other which allows us to keep our focus and attention on our most important asset… the students. My goal is to support the staff, families and the community so we can work together to ensure that all our students develop academically, socially and emotionally through a safe and supportive environment rich with great character while developing an enthusiasm for learning.
Feel free to contact me at any time with any concerns, to share your celebrations, or to just say “hi”. You will recognize me because I will always be the person wearing the biggest smile! I am truly humbled for the opportunity to serve this wonderful school community and to become a part of your family.
Educationally yours,
Heather Wawrzyniak, CBS Principal
